100-Year-Old War Vet Becomes Nashville’s Newest Artist

In a city renowned for launching the careers of countless country music legends, Nashville has found its most surprising rising star yet: 100-year-old World War II veteran Don Graves.
A former U.S. Marine who bravely fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima, Don has now earned a new distinction — becoming the oldest person ever to sign a record deal in the heart of Music City.
While many at his age have long since slowed down, Don is just hitting his stride. He celebrated his 100th birthday not just with cake and candles, but with a microphone in hand and a brand-new Nashville recording contract in front of him.
With this milestone, Don isn’t just reflecting on history — he’s making it.
Teaming up with country music icons John Rich and Lee Greenwood, Don is preparing to release his debut single, titled “The Sand of Iwo Jima.” The song is expected to be released in the coming months.
