If Colts Lose To Titans, Things Could Go Downhill Quick

We’re only 6 weeks into the NFL season, and we already might be back in must-win territory for the Indianapolis Colts.
The team currently sits at 2-3 and is coming off an embarrassing defensive effort against the previously winless Jacksonville Jaguars. In their division, they are 0-2, and they have another divisional matchup coming up this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. It goes without saying that starting the season 2-4 overall, and 0-3 in the division, would be a major blow to the Colts postseason hopes.
Beyond the divisional implications however, a loss against the Titans could be the beginning of the wheels really falling off. Here’s the Colts schedule after Week 6:
Week 7: vs Miami Dolphins
Week 8: at Houston Texans
Week 9: at Minnesota Vikings
Week 10: vs Buffalo Bills
Week 11: at New York Jets
Week 12: vs Detroit Lions
Week 13: at New England Patriots
Week 14: BYE
Week 15: at Denver Broncos
Week 16: vs Tennessee Titans
Week 17: at New York Giants
Week 18: vs Jacksonville Jaguars
Looking at this list, there’s some high-quality quarterbacks that the Colts and their leaky defense will have to face. These include Tua Tagovailoa (should he be healthy), Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Jared Goff, and of course, C.J Stroud. You also can’t discount Sam Darnold, who is having a career resurgence with the undefeated Minnesota Vikings, and even rookie Bo Nix, who has been playing well over the last few weeks for the Broncos. Even Daniel Jones and the Giants could be a problem, with rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers flashing tons of potential every time he steps on the field.
A win against Tennessee wouldn’t fix the Colts issues, nor would it be viewed as a major turning point in the season. The Titans have a solid defense, but their offense is solidly in the middle of the pack, ranking 15th and 17th in points scored and yards gained, respectively. 2nd-year quarterback Will Levis has become somewhat of an online meme for his back-breaking turnovers and his reactions to them. This is a team that the Colts can beat. However, if the Colts once again let an opposing quarterback or offense have a banner day and come up short yet again, it’s easy to see things going downhill in a hurry, especially on defense.
If that ends up happening, Colts fans may get their wish, and defensive coordinator Gus Bradley (among others) may not last through Week 18.
