Country star Luke Bryan took to social media on Wednesday (June 25) to announce the cancellation of his upcoming weekend shows as he continues to recover from an illness that began sidelining him last week.

“I’m really sorry to say I won’t be able to play this weekend’s shows due to continued illness,” Bryan shared in a post made shortly after noon. “I’ve been hoping to rally, but my voice is just not there yet.”

Bryan was originally scheduled to perform at three festival events on June 26, 27, and 28. Despite the cancellation, he assured fans they’re still in for a great experience — thanks to fellow country artist Eric Church stepping in.

“Huge thanks to my buddy @ericchurch for stepping in last minute — and of course, putting on a kick-ass show like he always does,” Bryan added. “Sitting still is not what I do best so I can’t wait to be back soon.”

This update comes less than a week after fans noticed vocal issues during his June 19 performance in Rogers, Arkansas. In a fan-filmed clip from that night, Bryan expressed frustration with the situation: “This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever dealt with in my life. I cannot have my voice in this venue for some reason. It happens every time, I don’t know why.”

As fans send well-wishes, Bryan’s team has yet to announce any additional cancellations.
