Live Nation has recently announced the discontinuation of its beloved Lawn Pass for the 2025 concert season, sparking outrage among fans. This decision has fueled ongoing criticism of the company, as they continue to prioritize profits over fan experiences.
The Lawn Pass: A Fan Favorite
For years, the Lawn Pass (or “Lawnie Pass”) was one of Live Nation’s standout offerings. Concertgoers could purchase a single pass for a specific venue, granting them general admission to all shows at that location throughout the season.
For example, the 2024 Lawn Pass for Ruoff Music Center in Indianapolis, priced at just $239, gave access to 25 concerts, along with perks like fast pass entry, parking, and personalized credentials.
This deal worked out to only $9.56 per show, making it an affordable option for dedicated fans.
Live Nation’s 2025 Change: Eliminating the Lawn Pass
In a surprising move, Live Nation has announced that the Lawn Pass will be discontinued in 2025.
The company cites the introduction of “new and exciting programs” for the summer concert season as the reason behind the decision.
Fans who previously enjoyed the Lawn Pass are understandably upset, as this was one of the last affordable and fan-friendly options the company offered.
Live Nation’s announcement, made via social media, stated: “We are working on new and exciting programs for summer concert season. While there will not be a Lawnie Pass program in 2025, previous Lawnies will be the first to hear about these new offerings.”
The Growing Criticism of Live Nation
The discontinuation of the Lawn Pass is only the latest in a series of controversial moves by Live Nation and its parent company, Ticketmaster.
Over the years, both companies have faced growing backlash from fans, artists, and lawmakers for their monopolistic practices.
From exorbitant service fees to dynamic pricing and ticketing issues, fans have expressed frustration over the lack of options and transparency in the live music industry.
In particular, the Taylor Swift Eras Tour ticketing debacle in 2023 brought Ticketmaster under intense scrutiny, prompting an antitrust lawsuit from the U.S. Justice Department. Despite this legal pushback, it seems unlikely that significant changes will be made in the near future, as the company continues to dominate the live music scene.
