Carrie Underwood Joins American Idol for Season 23

Carrie Underwood will take on judging duties for the upcoming season of American Idol, a role previously held by Katy Perry. She’ll join returning judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, along with longtime host Ryan Seacrest.
The announcement was accompanied by a touching reflection of Underwood’s journey with the series. Carrie began her career as the show’s fourth winner in 2005. Season 23 of American Idol is set to return to ABC next year.
