Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced the news on their socials that ‘the #Indy500 returns to Memorial Day weekend on @nbc. And you won’t want to miss @jimmieallen‘s national anthem performance from #IMS. Tune in Sunday, May 30 to The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’ This is huge news coming not that long after he was just recently announced as the CMA”s New Male Artist of the Year for 2021 back in April.

“We are excited to welcome Jimmie to the Racing Capital of the World for a memorable and emotional Memorial Day Weekend performance,” said IMS President J. Douglas Boles. “The national anthem is a signature pre-race moment, and this year’s rendition carries extra meaning as we prepare to welcome fans back to the Indy 500 and honor our frontline heroes.”

In the past, country stars such as Darius Rucker, LeAnn Rimes, and Martina McBride have all sung The National Anthem before the race. Take our quiz here to see if you remember when!
