What is Day of Change?

Day of Change (October 5th) commemorates the opening of the first Ronald McDonald House in 1974 by encouraging people to bring their loose change to local McDonald’s restaurants.

The Ronald McDonald House was built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. Your support will help provide families with homemade meals, private bedrooms and all of the comforts of home so that they can focus on what is most important: the health and well-being of their child.

Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Central Indiana is the “home-away-from-home” for families of children receiving medical care at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana Univeristy Health and other area hospitals.

In 2017, RMHCCIN served 5,114 families by providing over 18,492 nights at their house, including:

6,111 loads of laundry
36,984 showers
55,476 snacks
1,168 meals
110,952 cups of coffee
1,746 welcome & Back Home Again bags
