Tennessee, where we are this morning, ties with Missouri as the only states in the nation with 8 of these.

Adjoining neighbors – states that border them

Tennessee’s neighbors are Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri making it one of the two most neighborly states in the country. Missouri’s neighbors are Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois. Two states touch no other states – Alaska and Hawaii, of course and one state shares a border with a single state – Maine, which connects only to New Hampshire.
