Something that is happening today last happened on March 20, 1981. What is it?

A full moon on the same day as the spring equinox

The spring, or vernal equinox will occur at 5:58 p.m. ET today and later tonight we’ll see a full moon. That last happened 38 years ago. Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox but the full moon tonight doesn’t count because it’s on the spring equinox, technically not after it. So Easter is actually very late this year as a result. Happy Spring!
