Josef Newgarden and Tony Kanaan sat down with Wild on HANK FM & Scott Borchetta, Big Machine Label Group’s President/CEO, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway the week leading up to the 103rd Running of the Indianapolis 500.

So it might rain on Sunday… we asked Newgarden & Kanaan how they’re mentally preparing for the possibility it might be delayed to Monday.

“You know, I hate it for the fans, to be honest,” says Newgarden. “It’s not so bad for us. It’s just a delay.” He continued to say that he would rather have a hot day to race than a cold one.

Kanaan doesn’t disagree with Newgarden. “A cold day helps everybody. That’s why I don’t disagree with Josef on that. On a hot day you can expose your car quite a bit more.” Kanaan explained. “For people who don’t understand, we rely on wings and the hotter it is, the thinner the air is, the less downforce you have….so if it’s cold, then everybody has a shot.”

Kanaan wants the weather like he wants his steak… well, well, well done.
