After a series of asteroids flew past Earth over the new year holiday (one the size of the Statue of Liberty!) a bus-sized asteroid will zip by our planet Thursday at 18,400 miles per hour! Before you panic too much, the asteroid will still be 1 million miles from the Earth’s atmosphere. An asteroid a similar size (between 32 and 71 feet long) did buzz by Earth over New Year’s Eve at a 415,000 mile distance. To put it in perspective, the moon is less than 239,000 miles away from our planet.
